  • Palliate

I woke up so early today, around 8am. THAT’S SO EARLY FOR A NORMAL NOCTURNAL ME. My sister & I went down to novena & looked around for the Novena Medical Center. We went there too early & so I ended up reading newspapers. How ironic that Singapore celebrates topping medal tally, whereas the next day drop already. We waited for quite some time before going into Dr. Benedict Tan, the doctor’s office.

Firstly he asked me about how, when & where did I injure my ankle. Then he asked me to jump on my left foot only! I was extremely reluctant but anyhow la. Luckily it didn’t hurt much. Later he asked me to sit on the medical bed while he checked my ankle(s). Suddenly he took out one tube of thingy, & squeezed loads of jelly on my ankle. I realized he was performing ultra-scan on my ankle. So cool neh!

He checked a lot of places around my ankle & realized that one of my ligaments is COMPLETELY TORN. Sadly, as he says, there is no possibility of recovery, so forever goodbye to that ligament already. He also found out that both the tendons on my left ankle, right side & left side, was swollen & had fluid around it. Another of my ligament is slightly damaged also, as seen from the ultra-scan where the ligament is supposed to be, was not, & was replaced by some fluid. After that he also saw that some parts surrounding my ankle there had fluid, which isn’t supposed to be there. He suspects that internally inside my bone got crack or maybe the cartilage broke. In the end he talked to me about the torn ligament & everything. Sooooooooooooooo, my ligament can neverrrr heal back again. & my ankles can neverrrrr function like a normal human anymore. But all is well; I didn’t damage the ligament that is responsible for jumping. Turns out that with that ligament torn, I will not know whether my ankle is twisted or not, so I may just injure it again without me knowing it. BUT there is still hope as I can slowly train up other ligaments & muscles to send the information that my ankle is bent through physiotherapy. Through the physiotherapy I will also learn how to professionally tape my ankle to support it so that hopefully no further damaged is done. COOL.

I felt pretty relieved actually knowing that I still can play & jump. The torn ligament didn’t really affect me much because I know I WILL train back the ability to know what position my ankle is in. I think the worst part was it will take VERY very VERY very long to heal & at most my ankle can function up till a normal person’s ankle to 70%, unless there is a miracle that my ligament by hook or crook, grows back or heals itself. The other painful thing is OF COURSE – THE BILL. A grand total of 238bucks WOO. Quite crazy. Okay not quite, REALLY CRAZY. But I know its professional treatment so, no regrets!

This is the url of the place I went for treatment.
